Welcome to Tom Nadeau's Home-Page
Overview
Tom Nadeau recently completed his Ph.D. within the department of
Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS)
at the University of Michigan.
Tom is interested in databases, data warehousing, OLAP and data mining.
His advisor for the Ph.D. program was Toby J. Teorey, Ph.D.
Tom is the founder of Aladdin Software.
Dissertation Topic: An Integrated Approach to OLAP Optimization
The goal of on-line analytical processing (OLAP) is to quickly answer
queries from large amounts of data residing in a data warehouse. The recent
literature in the area of improving OLAP response time has focused on
materialized views as the means of achieving this goal. This problem of
improving OLAP response time can be divided into four smaller sub-problems:
View size estimation, selection of views to materialize, maintenance of
materialized views, and query optimization with materialized views. Our goal is
to contribute research to each of these areas, and integrate our work into a
new cohesive OLAP system.

Samoa is about as far from Michigan as you can get.
For two years Samoa was my home. I taught Math in a secondary school there.
Take a visit, it will warm your heart.
